At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.

When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.

Reporting to: Executive General Manager Food

Location: Europe (remote / flexible)

ALS is seeking a Global Quality Manager (Food) to lead and strengthen quality strategy, governance and consistent execution across our global Food testing laboratories. Reporting to the Executive General Manager Food, this role ensures robust, compliant and reliable quality systems that support accurate results and outstanding customer confidence across regions.

You will design, implement and continuously improve a risk-based global Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO/IEC 17025 and key regional regulatory requirements. You will partner closely with Operations and Technical leaders to harmonise standards, build quality capability and drive continuous improvement. You will also engage with accreditation bodies and customers to support audits, performance transparency and quality trust.

This is a key role in strengthening global consistency and client trust across our Food network.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead global quality strategy and governance: set global quality direction, policies and objectives aligned to business priorities and regulatory expectations.
  • Own and evolve the global QMS: drive a risk-based, integrated QMS aligned with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 principles, ensuring consistency across sites.
  • Standardise and harmonise ways of working: define and deploy global procedures, methods, and controls where applicable; support comparability of results across laboratories.
  • Build capability and quality culture: establish global training and competency frameworks for senior quality leadership; promote a culture of scientific excellence, accountability and “right-first-time”.
  • Strengthen risk management and readiness: implement quality risk management frameworks, escalation criteria and crisis support processes; maintain global quality risk registers.
  • Drive performance and continuous improvement: define quality KPIs and dashboards, analyse trends and lead improvement programs (e.g. audit findings, CAPA cycle time, proficiency testing performance, TAT adherence, data integrity incidents, customer complaints).
  • Lead accreditation and customer engagement: support multi-site accreditation, manage external audits and communicate quality performance and improvement plans to stakeholders.
  • Partner across the business: collaborate with Operations, Scientific leaders, HR and Digital/IT teams to ensure quality processes are effective, scalable and well-supported through systems and data.
What You’ll Bring
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, Analytical Science or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Experience: strong experience in laboratory quality roles, ideally with multi-site or global responsibility in a testing environment (Food/Agri preferred or closely related).
  • Accreditation expertise: proven success with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation (multi-site), strong knowledge of ISO 9001 principles and other relevant standards; familiarity with ILAC MRA requirements is a plus.
  • Continuous improvement: track record of delivering measurable results using structured improvement methodologies.
  • Leadership: strong stakeholder management, cross‑cultural communication and change leadership; ability to influence across senior levels and drive consistency through collaboration.
  • Customer and regulatory focus: experience managing customer audits and navigating regional regulatory requirements.

Language & travel: fluent English; willingness to travel internationally (approx. 25–40%).
