World Food Programme in Rome, Italy seeks two Legal Officers at the P2 level to provide legal advice within LEGA on employment law and related contractual matters. The role involves research, drafting, and representation in administrative proceedings, with potential inter-branch collaboration.

Competenze

• Advanced degree in law or first degree with relevant experience in private/public law.
• Must be admitted to practice by a recognized national or state bar or law society.
• At least three years of progressively responsible experience practicing law in a law firm, international organization, government service, or a company.
• Prior litigation and/or employment law experience is an asset.
• Fluency in oral and written English with intermediate knowledge of another UN working language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish or Portuguese).

• Undertake legal research and analysis on substantive and procedural legal issues.
• Review diverse legal documents to identify issues and ensure compliance with laws and jurisprudence.
• Draft legal opinions, reports, memoranda, submissions, agreements and contracts.
• Prepare legal advice interpreting WFP regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
• Represent WFP in administrative or tribunal proceedings and arbitration.
• Assist in assessing disciplinary cases and appeals.
• Assist in preparing litigation submissions for WFP and in negotiating settlements.
• Identify legal risks and assist in developing practical risk mitigation measures.
• Review administrative decisions and provide legal interpretations of policy applications.
• Support committees, task forces and other bodies with legal research and drafting.
• Perform other related duties as required.
