In September 2024 SKF announced the separation of its Automotive business with the objective of building two world‑leading businesses. The role you are applying for will be part of the Automotive business, allowing you to help shape a new company aimed at meeting the needs of the transforming global automotive market.

Are you someone who thrives in a global environment, enjoys working with complex product portfolios, and wants to improve international trade compliance? SKF Automotive has companies in 39 countries and a product assortment of more than 300,000 items. At SKF, you’ll be part of a central team overseeing a globally harmonised customs classification process, ensuring compliance, enabling smoother trade flows, and contributing directly to SKF’s growth and competitiveness.

Here, you’ll work with a network of local customs experts, interact with customs authorities, and be the go‑to expert for classification decisions. You’ll also be part of a company that values precision, innovation, and continuous improvement, where your skills will be appreciated, and your contributions will matter.

What You Can Expect In The Role
  • Establish and maintain global customs classification standards by creating central rules and guidelines for commercial descriptions and customs tariff codes of 39 countries.
  • Decide on global HS codes for the SKF Automotive product assortment and approve local deviations to ensure maximum harmonisation across markets.
  • Prepare and manage national ruling requests (BTI) when needed, ensuring compliance and clarity in classification decisions.
  • Support local customs experts during interactions with authorities (e.g., audits, inspections, rulings) and contribute to training and competence development.
  • Maintain and update master data in GTS, including scheme updates and subscription tables, and follow up on changes with content provider PST.
  • Act as system expert for customs classification in GTS and other SKF systems, handling incidents and demands.
We Expect You to Have
  • Solid experience in customs classification for import/export business, in a global context.
  • Comprehensive understanding of technical product features across the automotive range of SKF products, and the ability to explain them clearly.
  • Active knowledge of customs classification principles (GRI), with the ability to apply legal and explanatory notes published by trusted sources such as the WCO and national customs authorities.
  • Proficiency in working with official bodies, such as customs authorities and regulatory institutions.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to coordinate across borders, align with local SKF customs teams, justify classification decisions to experts, and build relationships with global partners and service providers.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written. Additional languages are a plus.

SKF is committed to creating a diverse environment, and we firmly believe that a diverse workforce is essential for our continued success. Therefore, we only focus on your experience, skills, and potential. Come as you are – just be yourself. #weareSKF.
