Overview

Global Commodity Manager role at Lumentum. The GCM manages mechanical components, supplier base, commodity strategy, and drives adoption of strategies into engineering design and manufacturing objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop cost models and understand cost drivers.
• Serve as the recognized global market information expert for supply, demand, capacity, price, market segments, competition, market trends, and regulatory implications.
• Create complex, global, comprehensive supplier–buyer contractual relationships and negotiation strategies.
• Own communication of contract data and volumes across global teams.
• Leverage supplier capabilities and business opportunities domestically and internationally.
• Primary owner of supplier relationship; drive supplier selection, development, and overall management in line with commodity strategy.
• Work with Strategic Technology Leaders and Supplier Quality Engineering to integrate supplier performance requirements.
• Develop commodity performance criteria and award/remove business according to results.
• Work with suppliers to drive improvement on all supplier scorecard areas.
• Drive global supply base consolidation analysis, planning, and implementation.
• Exhibit systems and metrics knowledge.

Required Qualifications

• Experience developing a sourcing plan reflective of portfolio management (long-term agreements, annual contracts, purchase contracts).
• BS in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or demonstrated relevant working experience.
• Willing to travel approximately 10%.
• 8+ years commodity management experience.
• Experience with ERP, MRP systems.
• Commodity knowledge and experience in optical telecommunication industry is a plus.

• Ability to communicate with senior management internally and externally for effective commodity strategy execution.
