RINA is seeking a Junior Marine Surveyor to join our Genoa office within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division. This role targets candidates registered under Italian Law 68/99 as a protected category.

You will support routine surveys, documentation, and reporting under supervision, contributing to maritime safety and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering and demonstrates proficiency in Italian and English and a willingness to learn RINA

RINA is currently recruiting for a Genoa Junior Marine Surveyor - Categorie Protette 68/99 to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.

We are looking for a Junior Surveyor registered as a protected category candidate under ItalianLaw 68/99.

Mission

The Junior Surveyor is to contribute to the organization's commitment to maritime safety, compliance, and excellence by applying knowledge of Rules, Regulations, and industry principles.

The Junior Surveyor supports the surveying team in performing routine inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, and staying informed about evolving industry practices.

Key Accountabilities
  • Professional Application
  • Acts as a professional specialist, applying relevant knowledge of rules, regulations, standards, and industry concepts within the organization’s framework.
  • Applies technical knowledge and professional judgment within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
  • Inspection and Reporting
  • Conducts routine surveys and inspections of classed ships, platforms, and marine structures to verify compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
  • Performs surveys in accordance with the guidance and supervision of a Surveyor, Senior Surveyor, or Principal Surveyor.
  • Prepares technically accurate, complete, and timely inspection and survey reports.
  • Clearly documents findings, observations, and any relevant recommendations arising from surveys.
  • File Maintenance
  • Maintains survey files in an orderly, accurate, and up-to-date manner within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensures that relevant survey documentation and records are properly maintained and readily accessible.

Education

Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Italian and English languages relevant with the scope of classification, statutory certification, related services and, before assignment, with future work.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy.
  • Ability to understand engineering plans and have a basic knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations.
  • Ability, to perform new building surveys:
  • to assess the suitability of certified materials and products supplied for the new building,
  • to assess that hull, machinery and equipment have been built in compliance with rules and regulations by means of compulsory inspections, tests and trials,
  • to issue Certificates, Reports, Records and Status in compliance with rules and regulations.

And/or:

ship in service surveys:

  • to assess that hull, machinery and equipment have been maintained in compliance with rules and regulations by means of compulsory overall inspections, tests and trials
  • to identify the deficiencies to be rectified (if any) and assess whether immediate repair is necessary or a condition may be issued with an appropriate due date,
  • to follow‑up as required by rules and regulations any repair work or due to previous outstanding conditions,
  • to assess whether the deficiencies identified (if any) may be linked with potential failure of the Ship Management System,
  • to endorse Certificates, issue Reports and Status in compliance with rules and regulations.

And/or: testing activities:

  • to assess the suitability of certified materials and products in compliance with applicable rules
  • to issue Certificates and prepare Reports and Status in compliance with procedures.
  • Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery.
  • Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.

Applications will be considered from both recent graduates and candidates with up to 2 years of relevant or comparable work experience.

Compensation Data

The salary range and job grade for this position are defined based on objective, role-related criteria and responsibilities in accordance with CCNL RINA (CNEL code I480).

The gross annual salary range foreseen is between €31.000 and €38.000 and will be finally defined on candidate’s professional experience, qualifications, competencies and overall alignment with the role.

In addition, an annual variable compensation component is provided, based on both Company and individual performance objectives in accordance with the current policies and collective agreements.

The overall compensation package is complemented by the Company's welfare.
