Overview

The Structural Heart division is at the forefront of innovation in cardiovascular care, focusing on a comprehensive portfolio of life-changing technologies. Abbott is committed to transforming the treatment landscape for patients with structural heart disease through therapies such as Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid Interventions (TMTI), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), stroke risk reduction solutions, congenital heart disease therapies, and surgical heart valves. This division has shown strong growth in the EMEA region, balancing cutting-edge technologies with traditional areas like mitral valve repair and congenital heart disease.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver Business Results – Set and meet aggressive commitments to achieve business objectives. Manage sales, marketing, operational and support functions (directly and/or in a matrix). Deliver on financial goals (e.g., sales, margin, market share) and other KPIs. Balance short-term and long-term priorities.
  • Market Focus – Understand and influence external stakeholders (payers, physicians, hospitals, market players, government, competitors, and consumers). Develop deep market and customer insights for Italy. Navigate complex regulatory environments and stay current with industry trends. Maximize the impact of marketing and market access efforts to grow the business.
  • Financial Management – Identify and monitor key financial indicators; anticipate and manage financial, governmental, and commercial risks. Manage P&L to deliver commitments and optimize performance and long-term growth. Conduct regular business reviews to ensure execution against plan.
  • Strategy Development and Execution – Develop and communicate a clear, forward-looking, customer-focused strategy. Translate divisional strategies into a sustainable operating plan with measurable KPIs and priorities.
  • Internal and External Stakeholder Management – Understand needs of internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies, governments, and associations. Build and manage relationships with key opinion leaders and policy makers. Represent Abbott brand in the community and with external stakeholders.
  • Talent Management – Recruit, develop, and retain high-calibre talent. Build succession plans for key roles and foster workforce motivation and growth.
Education & Knowledge
  • MBA in Business or Science or equivalent
  • 15 years+ experience in a commercial leadership role
  • Familiar with the medical device field and Italy market landscape
  • Proven experience in business growth acceleration and turnaround
  • Excellent people development abilities
