• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Role Description

The Founding Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and iterating on Vita’s core platform as part of a small, early‑stage team. This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Trento, where the engineer will work closely with the founders to shape product architecture, implement new features, and ensure scalability and reliability of AI‑driven services. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include developing backend and frontend components, integrating AI models and APIs, setting up and maintaining infrastructure, and establishing engineering best practices and workflows. The Founding Engineer will collaborate with product, design, and partner organizations to translate user needs into robust technical solutions, and will contribute to technical roadmapping, experimentation, and rapid prototyping. The role also involves code reviews, documentation, and mentoring future engineering hires as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills in areas such as backend development, frontend development, and API design, with experience building production‑ready web applications.
• Experience with AI‑ and data‑driven products, including integrating machine learning models, working with data pipelines, and leveraging cloud‑based AI services.
• Proficiency with modern development tools and practices, such as version control (e.g., Git), test automation, continuous integration/deployment, and monitoring.
• Ability to design and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure, ideally with experience in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization.
• Comfort working in an early‑stage environment, including rapid prototyping, iterating based on user feedback, and contributing to product and technical strategy.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally and take ownership of end‑to‑end solutions.
