Danem People Group in Pisa, Italy is seeking a Nuclear Fluids Systems Engineer to design, analyze and optimize fluid-based systems for nuclear facilities, focusing on safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Master’s in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering and 3–7 years of relevant experience; familiarity with CFD/FEA and tools such as ANSYS Fluent and Flowmaster is a plus; strong teamwork and ability to work under pressure are essential.

Competenze

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in fluid system design, thermal-hydraulic analysis, or nuclear plant operations.
  • Certifications such as PE license or ASME BPVC are preferred.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling and simulation software.
  • Knowledge of nuclear reactor coolant systems, heat exchangers, and steam turbines.
  • Experience with CFD/FEA is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects with deadlines.

RESPONSABILITIES & DUTIES
The Nuclear Fluid Systems Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of fluid-based systems in nuclear power plants, research reactors, and other nuclear facilities.
  • Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of cooling, steam, and hydraulic systems while maintaining strict compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory standards.
  • Working closely with reactor engineers, regulatory agencies, and maintenance teams to develop and improve system performance, reliability, and safety.
What you will be in charge off:
  • Designing, analyzing, and optimizing nuclear fluid systems, including reactor coolant, steam generation, condensate, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conducting thermal-hydraulic modeling, flow analysis, and pressure drop calculations to ensure system efficiency and safety.
  • Developing and maintaining system documentation, including flow diagrams, P&IDs, operating procedures, and safety reports.
  • Performing system reliability assessments, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for fluid system failures.
  • Ensuring compliance with NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) regulations, ASME codes, and other industry standards.
  • Collaborating with reactor engineers, safety specialists, and regulatory bodies to enhance fluid system performance.
  • Supporting the testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fluid systems in nuclear facilities.
  • Assisting in plant modifications, upgrades, and retrofits for improved efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluating material compatibility and corrosion effects to ensure long-term fluid system integrity.
  • Providing technical support and training to plant operators and maintenance personnel.

Profil recherché

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 3-7 years in fluid system design, thermal-hydraulic analysis, or nuclear plant operations (entry-level positions may require internships or co-op experience).

Certifications (Preferred): PE (Professional Engineer) license, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) certification, or equivalent industry credentials.

Expertise: In fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer principles.

Proficiency: In hydraulic modeling and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR CCM+, Flowmaster).

Knowledge: Of nuclear reactor coolant systems, heat exchangers, and steam turbines.

Familiarity: With ASME BPVC, NRC regulatory requirements, and ANSI standards for nuclear fluid systems.

Experience: With computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) is a plus.

Strengths: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Skills: Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with engineers, operators, and regulatory agencies.

Attention to Detail: A commitment to nuclear safety and compliance.

Ability: To work under pressure and manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.

Preferred
  • PhD degree.
  • IPO experience.
  • Written and oral fluency in Italian.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
