Job summary

CAREL is seeking a firmware engineer to join the Product Care team in Italy. You will maintain and evolve embedded firmware for existing products, manage updates, and contribute to system requirements and testing throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities include debugging, validation, documentation, and collaboration with Quality, Lab, Operations and suppliers while supporting reviews and certifications to ensure reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Good knowledge of microcontroller architectures and real-time systems.
• Experience in firmware testing, debugging and validation, and software versioning with Git.

Posizione

The selected candidate will join the Product Care team and will be responsible for the maintenance, improvement and evolution of embedded firmware for existing products. The role involves managing firmware updates and technical issues throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring product reliability, quality and regulatory compliance.

Specifically, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For

• developing, maintaining and improving embedded firmware for microcontrollers and electronic systems;
• managing firmware updates and product evolutions, contributing to the definition of software and system requirements;
• investigating technical issues and carrying out testing, debugging and validation activities;
• maintaining software components, technical documentation and version control through Git;
• collaborating with Quality, Laboratory, Operations and suppliers, while supporting technical reviews, certification activities and junior developers.

Requisiti

• strong knowledge of C/C++ programming for embedded systems;
• good knowledge of microcontroller architectures, real-time systems and embedded development toolchains;
• experience in firmware testing, debugging and validation, as well as software versioning through Git;
• familiarity with software standards, technical documentation and product certification processes;
• strong problem-solving and communication skills, combined with autonomy, accountability and a continuous-improvement mindset.

CAREL applies the Italian National Collective Labour Agreement "Metalmeccanica Industria".

The reference gross annual fixed salary (RAL) range for this position is between €35,000 and €45,000.

The Overall Compensation Package Will Also Include

• Individual performance bonus (MBO);
• Company performance bonus (Premio di Risultato), linked to collective results and subject to applicable favorable tax regulations;
• Additional welfare and benefit programs provided by the company.

The actual compensation offered will be determined on gender-neutral criteria based on the candidate's qualifications, professional experience, seniority and skills. For particularly qualified candidates, compensation may be positioned outside the indicated range.
