Job Summary
We are looking for new technicians (independent contractors) to supply our clients with technical services such as the installation and the maintenance of their machines. We seek mobile, experienced, and autonomous people with a strong technical background in Extrusion Blow Molding (EBM).
Candidate Requirements
- Must have an expert level understanding on blow molding technology, i.e., Graham Wheels, Bekum, Uniloy, R&B, etc.
- Experience should include intermediate electrical and processing controls, advanced mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Must be experienced with pneumatics circuits, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics circuits, and light electrical experience.
- Ability to manage and lead extrusion blow molding machine maintenance and overhauls.
- Experience with material handling equipment, including blenders, drivers, and color dosing.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Must be able to provide support/training on mold changeovers.
- Must have a laptop, and be proficient on/with email, Microsoft products, i.e., word, excel, pdf, etc.
- Detailed mechanical diagnostic analysis of EBM equipment.
- Development of preventative and predictive maintenance systems for plant operations.
- Parts list, cost, and timeline to complete repair / overhaul of the detailed diagnostic analysis.
- Provide hands on assistance in the completion of events surrounding the diagnostic analysis.
- Troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues related to plant operations equipment.
- Identification and interaction with vendors specifically to replace or improve the reliability of OEM equipment utilized by the operations and maintenance team.
- Provide directive on Preventive / Predictive maintenance plans to achieve optimal operational reliability, to include scheduling.
- Provide on-site, scheduled training on all EBM related equipment, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
- Provide phone support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of equipment.
- Provide on-site after-hours support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of equipment.
- Executes overhauls, rebuilds and major PMs with the assistance of the plant technicians.
- Development of training materials and work instructions to facilitate consistent application of Best Practices.
- Must be willing to travel at least 75% Travel to provide project support to various customer plants.
- Travel to provide emergency support when it is requested.
- Work overtime as needed to complete assigned tasks.
This is to be used as a guideline for the Blow Mold Technician in planning their day-to-day activities. The above noted duties are not all inclusive.
Candidate Education And/or Experience Requirements
- Minimum High School graduate.
- Trade certification in a Mechanical Field preferred.
- Minimum 5-10 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
Technical Knowledge Skills
- Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
- Compliant with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) policies and procedures.
- Supplies own tools sufficient to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform assigned duties.
- This includes basic electrical test tools, industrial hand tools, air tools, hand tools, plumbing tools, welding tools, and specialty tools needed for specific job tasks in blow molding, and mold repair / maintenance.
- Ability to read pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair low voltage (12 v DC) – high voltage (480 v AC 3 Phase) electrical systems.
- Extensive knowledge of extrusion blow molding equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of the basic principles of extrusion blow molding theory and operations.
- Experience in leading/completing major overhauls on EBM machines.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions.
- Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand.
- Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English in order to communicate with co-workers and vendors, read work instructions, job procedures and manuals, and document information.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software related to record keeping and machine troubleshooting / maintenance.
