Job description

We are looking for an Equity and Hedge Funds Portfolio Manager to join the investment team, reporting directly to the Head of Investments.

The role offers broad exposure across global investments, external managers and portfolio construction, within the typical Single Family Office environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fundamental research on listed companies across global public markets, developing independent investment views through company, industry and competitive analysis.
  • Build financial models, valuation frameworks and scenario analyses, and underwrite opportunities with a clear focus on expected returns, downside risk, catalysts and key assumptions.
  • Structure and monitor equity positions through options and derivative instruments (hedging, overlays, income generation, event-driven trades).
  • Research and evaluate hedge funds and UCITS funds across different strategies - analysing performance, portfolio construction, exposures, risk factors, drawdowns, liquidity and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Participate in meetings with external portfolio managers and investment teams and contribute to manager due diligence.
  • Monitor portfolio risk and existing positions (exposures, Greeks, VaR, stress tests, correlations, liquidity), flagging material changes in thesis or risk profile.
  • Prepare concise investment memoranda, recommendations and Investment Committee materials.
  • Support portfolio analysis, asset allocation and the continuous development of the investment research and monitoring framework.
Candidate Profile
  • 5-10 years of relevant investment experience in a hedge fund, asset manager, family office, institutional investor, high-quality equity research team or equity/derivatives desk.
  • Top degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related quantitative discipline; CFA, FRM or Master in Finance considered a plus.
  • Strong grounding in fundamental investment and financial statement analysis, combined with solid quantitative finance background and hands-on experience with options and derivatives.
  • Proven and supportive investment track record, with evidence of successful ideas, portfolio contributions or recommendations with clearly attributable outcomes.
  • Good understanding of hedge fund and UCITS strategies and fund structures; prior manager research experience is highly valued.
  • Advanced Excel and command of Bloomberg and/or LSEG/Refinitiv, FactSet; familiarity with Python or other analytical tools is a plus.
  • Ability to form independent investment views, defend them with clear analytical reasoning and communicate complex ideas concisely.
  • High intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, ownership and accountability - with a proactive and discreet approach consistent with a Single Family Office environment.
  • Fluent English and Italian (written and spoken).
