Electrical Design Engineer role at Telespazio – a joint venture between Leonardo and Thales focused on satellite solutions and services.

Join Telespazio’s Space Division and help us push the boundaries of space technology. In this role, you will design and develop low‑voltage power distribution and signal‑interfacing circuits for ground‑segment monitoring and control systems.

About the job

As part of the Launcher Control Bench Engineering team, you will work within an international, multidisciplinary group, using an ECSS‑compliant methodology for design, development, and validation of systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design low‑voltage power distribution and signal‑interfacing circuits for integration with PLC‑based control systems.
  • Select electrical and electronic components ensuring compliance with technical specifications and system requirements.
  • Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation to support manufacturing, assembly, and validation activities.
  • Configure and design PLC control circuits, including relay activation and input/output acquisition (digital and analog).
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems and interfaces during project execution.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including system engineers, software developers, and project managers—to ensure successful project delivery.
Degree and Seniority
  • Master’s degree in Engineering disciplines with at least 3 years of professional experience.
Technical Skills
  • Electronic Circuit Design: Functional design of low‑voltage power distribution systems and signal‑feeding networks.
  • Electrical Interface Specification Interpretation: Reading and applying interface specifications for proper integration.
  • Component Selection: Selecting appropriate electronic components and devices from commercial catalogs (e.g., Beckhoff, Siemens, NI).
  • PLC‑Based Control Circuit Design: Designing control circuits utilizing PLCs and relay‑based activation.
  • Signal Acquisition Circuits: Designing input acquisition circuits (DI and AI) for PLCs, handling wet and dry contacts.
  • Technical Documentation: Preparing schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
  • Standards and Compliance: Familiarity with relevant electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Troubleshooting and Validation: Testing, validating, and troubleshooting circuits during development and installation.
Additional Requirements
  • Good knowledge of the English language is required; knowledge of French is an asset.
  • Availability for business travel within the European Union (including French Guiana) and worldwide, if necessary.
