A global engineering firm in Lombardia is seeking a Commissioning / Controls Engineer specialized in substation relay protection. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in power systems and must be proficient in both Italian and English. Responsibilities include testing control panels and commissioning electric systems at substations. • €50K – €85K Basic (dependent on seniority) – inclusive of 13th month salary

About The Role

As a Commissioning / Controls Engineer you will be responsible for:

• Spending 30% of your time on customer sites across Italy and 70% operating from the client’s facility in Milan.
• Completing factory acceptance testing of control panels, ensuring systems are produced to specification and wired correctly.
• Commissioning electrical systems at power transmission and distribution substations (installations can take 2 days to 2 weeks depending on project size).
• Supporting the project managers and technical leads with the development of projects, configuration of devices, system design, etc.
• Conducting site installation, testing and commissioning.

About You

Ideally you have the right to work in Italy, however the client is open to providing sponsorship should your skills and experience relate extremely well to the opening.

Successful candidates will possess a minimum of 3‑5 years experience installing and commissioning control panels, power panels or switchgear in power generation facilities, substations or power transmission and distribution environments.

It is essential that you speak intermediate or above level of Italian and English and hold a valid driving license.

Electrical Engineering is beneficial; a general Technician Degree is acceptable.

Exposure to SCADA, ProfiBus, Modbus, DNP3 (Distribution Network Protocol), IEC 61850 would be highly advantageous, as would knowledge of relay protection products.

Experience designing substations is not required if you have the knowledge and confidence to work independently.
