Position Overview

Economist III at Amazon Web Services, Seattle, Washington. 40 hours per week, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, salary range $159,200 to $215,300. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the chief economist and senior management on key business problems in retail, international retail, cloud computing, third‑party merchants, search, Kindle, streaming video, and operations.
• Apply frontier economic thinking to market design, pricing, forecasting, program evaluation, online advertising, and other areas.
• Build econometric models using data systems, develop new techniques for large data sets, and contribute to the design of automated systems.
• Use applied micro‑econometrics tools (experimental design, difference‑in‑difference, regression discontinuity, IV) and forecasting time‑series models.
• Leverage big‑data tools for data extraction, write up and present analysis to various levels of management at Amazon.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or foreign equivalent degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field and three years of research or work experience in the offered job or a related occupation.
• At least two years of research or work experience in private consulting, government, or academic research; program evaluation, forecasting, time‑series, panel data, and high‑dimensional problems; Python, R, or Stata; and SQL.
