Job summary

Thales Alenia Space is seeking a System Architecture professional to define candidate architectures and satisfy stakeholder expectations by balancing technical options, costs, risks and schedules, documenting architecture artefacts, and guiding lower‑level designs.

You will engage in co‑engineering (Lean Thinking, Obeya), MBSE modelling, and agile methods, manage interfaces, and support integration throughout the project lifecycle while aligning with the technology roadmap and business strategy.

Qualifications

• Master of Engineering or Computer Science with significant experience in architecture and engineering systems.
• Ability to lead and develop a team through collaborative work and challenging approaches.
• Initiative, convincing and customer‑facing; strong communication and relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and recommend candidate architectures to satisfy stakeholder expectations and align with the technology roadmap.
• Establish the solution architecture, trade‑offs, interfaces and artefacts, and approve lower‑level designs.
• Assist in the solution development cycle and define the co‑engineering approach.
• Manage requirements, performance evaluation, interfaces, and technical negotiations across stakeholders.

• You graduated with a Master of Engineering or Computer Science or in University, and you have significant experience in architecture and engineering systems
• You are a leader willing to engage and develop your team through the use of collaborative work and challenging approaches

• You have good communication and relationship skills

COMPETENCIES:

• You are aware of the description of the operational concept
• You have a deep knowledge of the field and its technical strategy
• You are familiar with operational analysis
• You are able to work in co-engineering (Lean Thinking, Obeya...)
• You understand the different actors involved in the project and are able to contextualise and change the perspective (political, economic, social, technical, environmental, legal...)
• You are familiar with Concept, Design, Experimentation and Simulation tools, as well as modelling tools (such as MBSE)
• You are familiar with working with Integration Verification Validation Qualification and Agile methods

LIFE AS A SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE ROLE

• Define and recommend candidate architectures for the corresponding level (solution or solution element) to satisfy stakeholder expectations according to the standards and re-use policies, the technology roadmap and the business strategy
• Establish the solution architecture by making trade-offs between stakeholder expectations, technical and technological solutions and costs, risks and schedule, document the associated artefacts (architecture justification in the design and justification file, product breakdown structure, system/segment design document) and approve the resulting lower-level specifications (internal or external)
• Assist in the solution development cycle and in defining the co-engineering approach
• Manage, all along the project life cycle, the assignment of the corresponding level requirements, the management of the performance evaluation and the critical parameters, the definition of the interfaces, the technical negotiation between the different stakeholders (internal or external)
