Job summary

APM Terminals, part of the Maersk group, is seeking a Dispatcher for a traineeship at Vado Ligure. The role focuses on coordinating yard operations, loading/unloading containers, and ensuring efficient logistics workflows. Strong Lean mindset and logistics knowledge are essential.

It is an internship/traineeship with a focus on developing skills in yard planning, reporting, and operational excellence within a dynamic maritime environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and a college degree in Logistics, Operations Management, or related discipline.
• Italian at mother tongue level, proficiency with English language.
• Lean mindset with a continuous-improvement focus.
• In-depth knowledge of logistics, yard planning/layout and container terminal operations.
• Strong analytical, numeracy, reporting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations are executed according to priorities set by the Shift Manager.
• Report problems and implement changes to solve them.
• Ensure optimum utilization of all equipment.
• Coordinate movement of containers to/from rail siding and transfer areas.
• Update system with equipment identification
• Monitor dispatch queues to identify clashes and delays in the yard.
• Manually dispatch work instructions outside automatic queues.
• Elaborate reports requested by management.

We are currently looking for a Dispatcher who will join our team based in Vado Ligure and will be hired to work on shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• To ensure that all operations are executed in accordance to the priorities set by the Shift Manager,
• To report any problem in operations and to implement the agreed changes to solve the problems;
• To ensure the optimum utilization of all equipment;
• To ensure smooth and speedy movement of containers to and/or from rail siding and external road traffic vehicles transfer area;
• To update the system with equipment identification on a continual basis;
• To monitors the dispatch queues to identify potential clashes and delays in the yard;
• To manually dispatche work instructions that are not in an automatic dispatch queue;
• Responsible to elaborate reports requested by the management;
