As part of the growth of our Public & Private Cloud division, we are looking for a Datacenter Technician responsible for the installation, cabling, and maintenance of hardware equipment within Datacenter facilities. The role supports colocation customers with on‑site technical activities and collaborates with the central technical team to perform remote interventions, ensuring high service availability and operational continuity.
Responsibilities of the selected candidate include:
- Installation and rack mounting of servers, switches, and storage devices within Datacenter racks.
- Structured cabling activities (network, power, fiber, and copper) between servers, switches, and storage equipment.
- On‑site technical support for colocation customers, performing interventions on dedicated racks as required.
- Remote hands support for the central technical team in hardware maintenance activities, including:
- Replacement of failed hard drives.
- Replacement of faulty RAM modules.
- Replacement or restoration of other defective hardware components.
- Troubleshooting and restoration of malfunctioning cabling.
- Verification of the correct operation of equipment following each intervention.
- Compliance with Datacenter security procedures and access control policies.
- Documentation of completed activities through tickets and technical reports.
- Participation in a 24/7 on‑call support rotation with other team members, handling urgent interventions outside regular working hours when required.
The ideal candidate meets the following requirements:
Hard Skills:
- Basic knowledge of server, storage, and networking infrastructures.
- Experience, even at an entry level, in hardware installation and cabling activities.
- Familiarity with hardware components such as hard drives, RAM modules, power supplies, and network interface cards.
- Ability to read and interpret cabling diagrams and technical documentation.
- Basic knowledge of networking, including patch panels, switches, and structured cabling systems (Cat6 and fiber optic).
Soft Skills:
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively by following procedures, standards, and checklists.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently when performing remotely guided interventions.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colocation customers.
- Availability to travel between the Siziano and Cornaredo sites as required.
- Reliability, responsiveness, and a high level of operational readiness during on‑call duty rotations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a Datacenter, NOC (Network Operations Center), or similar operational environment.
- Basic technical English proficiency, with the ability to understand and work with technical documentation and support tickets.
- Valid Category B driving license, with willingness to travel between company sites as required.
- Working schedule defined according to the operational needs of the Datacenter environment.
- Participation in a 24/7 rotating on‑call service to ensure timely management of incidents and critical interventions outside normal business hours.
- Requirement to remain reachable by phone and to be able to access the Datacenter within the response times established by company policies and applicable service level agreements (SLAs).
