QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey in Milano seeks a data science professional to join multi-disciplinary teams delivering data-driven solutions for clients across industries.

You will develop high-quality modeling and analytics using Python, SQL, and modern ML frameworks, collaborating with ML engineers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to turn complex datasets into actionable strategies while adhering to responsible AI practices.

You will work in multi-disciplinary teams to harness the power of data and deliver real‑world impact for organizations globally. Your work will directly influence the recommendations our clients need to drive meaningful change and enhance their performance.

You will tackle complex and diverse data challenges, working with some of the world’s largest organizations. You will develop high‑quality data science solutions and products, focusing on advanced modeling and analytics.

While collaborating with client teams and internal experts, you will present findings, provide actionable recommendations, and consult with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of data‑driven strategies.

We use a diverse range of tools and technologies, selecting the best fit for each task while considering client preferences. Commonly used tools include:

• Programming and Machine Learning: Python (primary), SQL, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch and Spark
• Data Engineering and Deployment: Docker, Kubernetes
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure
• Proprietary Tools: Kedro, CausalNex, MLRun

Your Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field
• Up to 2 years of experience in programming or data science
• Statistical Knowledge: Strong foundation in statistics and data analysis is required. Familiarity with GenAI core concepts is a nice‑to‑have (e.g., LLMs, RAG architecture, embeddings, and prompt engineering techniques)
• Proficiency in Python is a must. Experience with R, SQL, or Spark is highly valued. Familiarity with other tools such as, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hadoop is a plus. Familiarity with LLM tech‑stack (e.g., Langchain, llamaindex) is also a plus
• Proven ability to work effectively in team environments and with stakeholders at all levels
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure is a nice‑to‑have
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Italian. Fluent level language skills in English are required; knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Portuguese, German, French, Spanish) are a plus
