A leading cloud service provider is seeking a Data Center Engineering Technician to oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical infrastructure at data centers in Italy. The ideal candidate will have an Electrical Certification and strong problem-solving skills, ensuring high safety standards and compliance. This full-time role involves working with critical systems like UPS, HVAC, and generators. Travel may be required between data center sites.

Data Center Engineering Technician, DCEO

Amazon Web Services (AWS) – You will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in AWS Cloud regions. Our technicians operate and maintain world‑class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, you will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.

The role requires a motivated, self‑managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence. The work follows a process‑oriented approach: you need a strong willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Safety – Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world‑class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
  • Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance – Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), and Transformers; troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs); take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log‑taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.); supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance; manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with health & safety regulations).
Basic Qualifications
  • Professional or formal Electrical Certification, or Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in an Electrical field.
  • Demonstrate key electrical competencies (practice & theory) & knowledge of mechanical systems (mechanical, HVAC systems, controls).
  • Very good command of English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Data Center/mission critical engineering experience.
  • Willing to travel between data center sites, and internationally if required.
  • Driving license valid in Italy.
