Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Engineer; the role will primarily involve providing server hardware support across a multi‑vendor environment. Hardware consists of HPE servers, Dell servers and includes data centre cabling activities such as installation, termination, patching, and testing of all DC interlink cabling (i.e., CAT‑5e, CAT‑6 6A, fibre optic).

The role also includes data centre facilities management activities such as, but not limited to, IMAC\D (Install, Move, And Change, decommissioning) work, escorting external resources, requesting access, goods in/out.

Based on customer sites in Lewisham and London Docklands, covering 24/7/365 on a 12‑hour shift schedule.

The tasks will include (but not limited to) :
  • Installations, maintenance, and repairs on customer equipment.
  • Installation, termination and testing of all data centre interlink cabling.
  • Strong customer relationship building skills and the ability to manage complex customer problems.
  • Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction by clarifying customer needs and ensuring they are met; handles customer‑relations problems promptly and appropriately.
  • Ensures all calls are resolved within the agreed SLA, escalates when necessary, and updates customers until resolution and closure.
  • Communicates effectively at all levels, both written and verbal.
  • Displays calmness and the ability to solve problems under pressure.
Required skills and attributes
  • Must have strong knowledge of HPE servers.
  • Experience of patch cabling in a data centre environment.
  • Good knowledge of ServiceNow (SNOW).
  • Sound knowledge of ESD working practice.
  • Sound knowledge of general health & safety.
  • Good MS Office tool skills.
