Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and ensuring our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. As a Security Field Engineer, you will deep‑dive into security products that protect our customers’ data centers, helping Amazon remain the world’s most customer‑centric company by delivering scalable and secure solutions at the lowest possible cost.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Provide full life‑cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
  • Serve as the ‘go to’ engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for security products in our Data Centers.
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
  • Directly support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment and event support.
  • Review designs for existing products to improve security and efficiency.
  • Interface with internal design engineering teams, server hardware teams, and environmental health and safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
  • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
  • Initiate and lead security site audits within Amazon’s data centers, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation.
A day in the life

Operate with high autonomy owning engineering reviews, bar‑raising initiatives, and root cause analyses for security infrastructure products. Your responsibilities will ebb and flow, including threat modeling, standards writing, architecture consultations, and designing proactive security systems across local, regional, and global projects.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas.
  • 4+ years of commissioning experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
