Syensqo seeks a Customer Technical Development (CTD) Engineer for EMEA in Bollate, Italy. You will work with customers and internal teams to develop polymer-based solutions, perform material recommendations, and provide design support for metal-to-plastic conversions.

The role emphasizes sustainability and requires strong communication and project management skills. You will collaborate with global CTD and R&I groups, travel extensively, and contribute to literature and training materials.

Formación

• Bachelor in mechanical or chemical engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
• 3+ years of experience with polymers in manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with polymers in manufacturing (injection, compression, extrusion).
• Experience in E&I sectors (electronics, sensors, connectors) is a plus.
• Fluent in English; Italian and/or French; German is a plus.

Customer Technical Development (CTD) Engineer, E&I Electronics - EMEA

Position overview

The Customer Technical Development (CTD) function within Syensqo Specialty Polymers is designed to provide strong technical expertise and value to our customers by leveraging the entire product portfolio, resources, and know-how of the Global Business Unit (GBU). Specialty Polymers is looking for creative, curious self-starters and leaders interested in non-routine challenges to join the Technical Development team in EMEA and support several Electronics and Industrial markets. You will be responsible for providing technical application development expertise to customers and will interact with the internal organization (Sales, R&I, Manufacturing, etc.) to develop total customer solutions.

You will work directly with customers in collaboration with the sales and marketing to identify and develop application opportunities where Syensqo’s specialty polymers add value and solve customer problems.

Elicit a complete set of customer requirements and develop the value proposition of Syensqo materials.

In this position, you’ll work directly with the global CTD community and our R&I teams, to lead the development and implementation of solutions for customer applications. This includes polymer material recommendation and validation, design support for metal to plastic conversion, prototyping support, tooling design recommendations, testing, and processing assistance.

The CTD Engineer provides technical training and literature for both internal and external use about designing with polymers, polymer selection, polymer processing, simulation and prototyping.

This position is championing sustainability solutions.

Being part of a community implies to collaboratively interact and share expertise with the global CTD team, and create technical marketing literature.

For proper connection with customers, you will be willing and able to travel 50-60% of the time.

You will bring

Education and Experience

You are required to have a Bachelor degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, material science, or equivalent applicable technical degree. Advanced degree is preferred. PhD is a plus.

Experience in a technical position working with polymers, ideally 3+ years of working experience in this field, is a plus as well.

Ideally, candidates for this position will have real hands-on experience working with polymers in a manufacturing environment (injection molding, compression molding, extrusion). Your mechanical aptitude, experience in part and tooling design and failure analysis is an added value for the position.

Direct experience in the relevant E&I sectors, i.e. electric and electronics (connectors, sensors, electrical components), semiconductor, industrial applications / customers / tiers is a plus.

Fluent in English, French and/or Italian, German is a plus.

Skills

The ability to execute projects with short life cycles is helping project management in this role.

Demonstrating the ability to work independently and effectively to build deep relationships with both external customers and within a global Syensqo team is needed to effectively contribute to the success of the GBU.

In general, the position requires knowledge of polymer physics, material selection, and processing.

Strong and effective communication skills, together with customer-focus, are key for the proper connection with internal and external stakeholders.

The ability to apply technical knowledge in a customer-facing and commercial environment will allow to develop strong and fruitful customers’ relationships.

Excellent project management skills and the ability to analyze data (quantitative, qualitative) will boost new developments and opportunities.
