Overview: We are seeking experienced Senior Commissioning Engineers (Electrical LV/HV) to join our project team for a major data centre facility in Milan, Italy. The successful candidates will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, and validation of generator systems, ensuring all electrical installations and associated control systems operate to design specifications and industry standards. This is a contract role ideal for seasoned engineers with a background in power generation, critical infrastructure, or data centre commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the commissioning of LV and HV electrical systems, with a focus on generator sets.
- Oversee generator start‑up, synchronization, load testing, and system integration.
- Review and validate electrical drawings, schematics, and commissioning documentation.
- Conduct functional and performance testing in line with project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
- Liaise closely with client representatives, OEM engineers, and project management teams.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide detailed reporting on commissioning progress and system performance.
- Ensure compliance with European electrical and safety standards.
- Supervise and mentor junior commissioning staff as required.
- Plan, execute, and document commissioning activities for diesel and gas generator systems and associated electrical infrastructure in data centres.
- Perform functional and performance testing, including load bank testing, synchronization, and system integration with switchgear and UPS systems.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and safety standards (CEI, IEC, ISO, etc.).
- Coordinate with design, installation, and client teams to identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning.
- Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, and sign‑off certificates.
- Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) as required.
- Participate in risk assessments and ensure safe work practices throughout commissioning activities.
- Provide technical support and training to site and client teams on generator operation and maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Right to work in Italy.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in LV/HV electrical commissioning within data centres, power generation, or critical infrastructure.
- Proven hands‑on experience with generators (commissioning, FAT/SAT, or maintenance).
- Strong understanding of protection systems, switchgear, control panels, and PLC interfaces.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in commissioning or maintenance of generator systems, LV/MV switchgear, or critical power systems.
- Experience in data centre or mission‑critical environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, control systems, and protection relays.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Italian is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Italy and Europe as required.
- Valid EU work authorization (or eligibility to work in Italy).
Desirable
- Familiarity with generator brands (e.g., MTU, Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, etc.).
- Experience with commissioning management systems (CMS) and test documentation tools.
- Knowledge of data centre commissioning processes (Level 1–5).

Commissioning Operation Superintendent
Responsibilities and Main Activities
- Prepare the project documents and deliverables (systems breakdown structure, mark‑up of P&I diagrams, schedule of activities, pre‑commissioning manual, pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures) in compliance with the project requirements.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Department the preparation of the engineering database and follow the updating, in home office and at Site.
- Support the implementation of the electronic Project Completion System linked to the engineering database.
- Finalize the certification matrix.
- Prepare the schedule of activities, follow up the updating and monitor the progress.
- Analyze the Construction completion packages (DAC) once issued from construction and advise CMM or CST about the status of verified DAC prior to formal acceptance by the Commissioning team.
- Facilitate the completion of the pre‑commissioning activities through checking of certificates and punch list.
- Participate in reviewing and planning of availability of lubricants, chemicals, catalysts and other products required for commissioning.
- When requested from the Commissioning Manager coordinate the field activities assigned to the Supervisors.
- Participate in preparing the Commissioning Dossier.
- Collect and organize the discipline DAC punch list ensuring that the punch lists issued by the commissioning team are properly filled and correct them when required before forwarding them to QC.
Electrical Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Review electrical designs to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or deviations from project specifications.
- Validate cable sizing and make recommendations where necessary.
- Ensure timely completion of technical assessments and resolution of all electrical engineering issues.
- Compile and manage electrical technical submittals through the full approval process.
- Track procurement, delivery, and receipt verification of electrical equipment.
- Attend and record regular supply chain meetings to monitor progress against the construction program.
- Maintain and update progress trackers aligned with the construction schedule.
- Collaborate with the BIM team to review constructability and ensure sufficient space for installation and maintenance of equipment and cabling.
- Liaise with design teams and supply chain partners to ensure correct operation of plant systems and successful handover.
- Conduct electrical system walk‑downs to verify compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Compile test packs, FTOPs, and O&M manuals for approval.
- Manage specialist vendors during commissioning to ensure timely completion.
- Lead and participate in client training as part of the handover process.
- Lead engineering design and design management tasks as part of an integrated project team.
- Provide technical support across design development, coordination, construction details, and subcontractor management.
- Support continual improvement of QA systems and perform project reviews.
- Provide technical expertise to estimating, procurement, commercial, and bid teams.
- Offer off‑site technical support to project teams as needed.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and graduates, fostering technical excellence and professional development.
Qualifications / Experience
- Third‑level qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in project engineering within a construction environment.
- Strong background in both LV and MV systems, particularly in data centre and building services projects.
- Knowledge of current Design Guides, Codes of Practice, ETCI/BS7671 Regulations, Building Regulations, and EN/IEC Standards.
- Proficient in Amtech, Dialux, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD 2D, and MS Office Suite.
- Proven experience managing clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering electrical projects across commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, or data center sectors.
- Commercial awareness and strong understanding of EHS and quality management systems.
- Excellent communication, record‑keeping, and organizational skills.
- Analytical, decisive, and process‑driven with a focus on safety, quality, and delivery.
- Ability to lead teams, influence others, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Innovative mindset with a proactive, hands‑on approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
