About the team

We are looking for a Commercial Counsel to support Deliveroo’s business in Italy. The successful candidate will be based in Milan and will report into our Head of International legal based in Paris.

This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, supporting a rapidly growing business with a wide variety of legal and commercial issues.

What you’ll be doing

As part of the Legal team, you will play a key role in supporting Deliveroo’s operations in Italy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Commercial contracts: drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements.

  • Business partnering: acting as a trusted strategic advisor to our Italian business teams, including Operations, Marketing, and Commercial.

  • Marketing support: assisting the marketing team with online and offline campaigns, including drafting terms and conditions and ensuring compliance with consumer law.

  • Regulatory and compliance: monitoring regulatory developments and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

  • Policy rollout: coordinating the implementation and update of legal terms, policies and product features in collaboration with the global legal team and other global functions.

  • Dispute management: handling consumer complaints, pre‑litigation matters, and commercial IP issues.

  • Process improvement: identifying and supporting process improvements within the Legal team to enhance efficiency and quality of service.

  • Training and knowledge sharing: providing training to business teams on key legal and compliance topics.

  • External counsel management: managing external legal advisors effectively, ensuring cost‑efficiency and high‑quality support.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • At least 3 years PQE, qualified in Italy and admitted to the bar (avvocato).

  • Experience in the commercial department of a leading law firm (secondment or prior in‑house experience is a plus).

  • Excellent legal and analytical skills, with strong business judgment and commercial acumen.

  • Fluency in English and Italian (both written and spoken).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally and build effective relationships.

  • A proactive and pragmatic mindset, with the ability to execute to deadlines and to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.

  • The ability to remain calm under pressure, think quickly, and deliver sound legal advice with a touch of humour.

  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to get things done.
