For our offices in Costa Volpino, we are looking for a Cloud Database Administrator / Database Management Expert to manage database configuration, availability, and correct operations in a multi-paradigm database environment. The role involves monitoring and ensuring availability and disaster recovery, as well as contributing to the evolution of our data stores.

This position requires adherence to best practices regarding database management in a cloud application, with a focus on data scalability, performance, and availability.

Main Tasks of the Position:

The successful candidate will support and consult with development teams in the design, setup, and operations of our databases, following best practices for data management in a cloud environment.

• University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or comparable working experience.
• At least 4 years of professional experience and expertise in database administration, including at least 2 years in a cloud-based distributed application environment.
• Good communication skills and proficiency in English.

Database Administration:

• Proven practical knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, H2) and NoSQL databases.
• Experience in setup, administration, and performance tuning (indexing, query optimization) for cloud applications.
• Routine experience with patching databases, managing permissions, configuring for high availability, troubleshooting, and setting up metrics and sensors for monitoring.
• Ability to oversee and influence cloud service providers in infrastructure management and maintenance. Managing cloud infrastructure, data migration, database analysis, optimization, testing, and support.
• Assist in re-architecting database structures to enhance data security.

Database as Code:

• Experience with data versioning systems (Liquibase, Flyway) and scripted deployment of databases in containerized environments (Kubernetes).

Co-development:

• Work closely with agile development teams.
• Assist developers in designing and tuning databases and queries (Liquibase, Hibernate, SQL); provide database analysis and design recommendations.

Please note that we have a hybrid working policy, requiring candidates to work on-site 3 days per week.
