A growing renewable energy developer in Italy is seeking a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to lead the technical strategy and ensure the successful delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Europe. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the energy sector, specifically in BESS technology and supplier management. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to lead the technical strategy, manage key supplier relationships, and ensure the successful delivery of complex energy storage developments.

The Role

• Evaluate, compare, and understand different BESS technologies and suppliers, ensuring solutions meet customer needs.
• Collaborate with BESS suppliers, review technical warranties, and ensure compliance with supplier agreements and quality standards.
• Work closely with the procurement manager to select suitable BESS products, negotiate terms, and ensure alignment between technical requirements and purchasing decisions.
• Support the transition of projects from development to construction and operation.

The Person

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the energy sector, with 2–3 years in BESS, storage technology, or a technical advisory capacity.
• Strong understanding of different BESS technologies, suppliers, and integration processes.
• Experience managing warranties, specifications, and procurement for energy projects.
