CHIEF ACCOUNTANT
As Chief Accountant, you will play a vital leadership role within the Finance Department, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all financial operations. You will oversee daily accounting functions, maintain strong internal controls, support strategic financial decision‑making, and ensure compliance with all company policies and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts
- Monitor revenues, expenses, and analyze variances
- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations (AP, AR, income audit)
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly and year‑end closing
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports
- Ensure compliance with the hotel’s chart of accounts and company financial standards
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets
- Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and tax requirements
- Assist in tax return preparation and governmental filings
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Review balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy
- Supervise, train, and mentor the accounting team
- Support senior management and the Director of Finance with analysis and strategic decision‑making
- Provide financial insights to identify trends and opportunities
- Liaise with other departments to resolve financial or control‑related issues
- Participate in management meetings
- Handle payroll processing and related accruals
- Support daily cash management functions
- Monitor third‑party billing, payments, and POS transactions
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in hotel or luxury‑hospitality finance (senior or supervisory level)
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in accounting and hotel systems (Opera, Sun, or similar)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Fluent in English and Italian (additional languages are a plus)
