Chief Accountant – Italy (Hybrid) role at Avon

What you’ll be doing

As Chief Accountant for Italy, you’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with both statutory and corporate requirements. You’ll lead the Record to Report (R2R) process, oversee month‑end close, and ensure compliance with local tax and audit obligations. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain high standards of financial control, support audits, and provide insights that help drive business decisions. Your role will be key in ensuring the integrity of financial statements and building confidence across the business.

Key responsibilities
  • Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for Italy
  • Overseeing statutory filings, tax submissions, and audit processes
  • Leading the reconciliation of US GAAP and local statutory accounts
  • Ensuring compliance with SOX controls and internal procedures
  • Collaborating with global teams, shared services, and external advisors
  • Monitoring local regulatory changes and implementing updates to processes
  • Supporting financial planning and analysis with variance commentary and forecasts
  • Driving continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems
What we’re looking for
  • Experience in finance or accounting, ideally within a multinational environment
  • A degree in Finance or Accounting, with a professional accounting qualification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards
  • Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • A proactive mindset, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement
