A leading food ingredient company in Emilia-Romagna, Italy seeks a Business Development Manager. This role focuses on driving sales growth in the Bakery and Culinary sectors by developing customer relationships and engaging in market intelligence activities. Applicants should have a strong technical background in food science and a minimum of 10 years of experience in sales development or key account management. This role is pivotal in expanding our market presence and building strong relationships with key industry players on selected geographies and channels.
We aim to position the role in North of Italy, either remote or at one of the Limagrain group sites, after an induction period in France or in the Netherlands. We are open to consider any candidates willing to travel on a regular basis to Italy.
Support and deliver growth
Define sales development strategy for each customer group, from key accounts to potential distributors, on defined geographies and channels. Identify and prospect potential accounts by setting the road to success through complex purchasing process for key innovative ingredients.
Develop Customer Engagement
Actively engage with key stakeholders across purchasing, marketing, and R&D customer departments. Understand their business objectives, market trends, and product development plans. Provide technical expertise and guidance on the use of our ingredients to support their innovation process. Open new projects to introduce Limagrain Ingredients’ portfolio and ensure progress towards success.
Collaborate
Work closely with internal teams, including R&D, Marketing, and Operations, to align customer requirements with product development and production capabilities. Provide required reports including the update of the CRM, commercial performance monthly reports, and sales forecast.
Act on Pricing and Contracts
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with key customers, targets and partners to ensure mutually beneficial agreements. Prepare the negotiation stages by applying the appropriate commercial approach and negotiation process in compliance with the commercial policy, while monitoring customer creditworthiness.
Develop Market Intelligence
Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and industry regulations affecting the Bakery, Culinary and Nutrition market.
Contribute to the organization of commercial events (seminars, webinars, etc.) and to the promotion of the Company through visits, presentations, trade shows and actively engage with organizations and networks specific to its markets.
You hold a Master degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing with a technical background in food science (or related disciplines) or Agricultural engineering training with a specialization in business.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Sales development and/or Key Account Management role within the food ingredients industry. You have a solid understanding of food ingredients and their applications in the Bakery and Culinary industry, especially regarding technical wheat flours, nutritional ingredients and textured vegetable proteins. You are able to provide technical support and advice to customers on ingredient selection and formulation.
Fluent in Italian, French, English, and high‑level proficiency with MS Office programs and relevant IT tools (Dynamics CRM…).
Experience, network and successful track record in opening new B2B customers of the bakery and culinary market with innovative ingredients at European level, are essential for the success of this position.
Your business acumen, and ability to analyze market trends, develop a prospective vision and develop initiatives is recognized as well as your capacity to build relationships and partnerships.
You know how to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment, collaborating with internal teams and departments to achieve common goals.
The position will be integrated into the existing sales team located in France, Netherlands and UK, requiring up to minimum 50% of traveling in Europe.
