Bridge Engineer

RINA is recruiting for a Bridge Engineer to join its office in Genova, Napoli or Milano, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.

Mission

The role focuses on planning, designing, and maintaining bridge structures and ensuring safety, functionality, and longevity.

Key Accountabilities

• Bridge Design and Analysis – design and analyze bridge structures, model and simulate behavior using engineering software.
• Project Planning – collaborate with project managers and engineering disciplines to develop comprehensive plans, provide input on timelines, resources, and budgets.
• Regulatory Compliance – ensure designs adhere to local, state, and national codes, stay informed of standard changes.
• Structural Assessments – conduct inspections and assess existing bridges to evaluate structural integrity and recommend maintenance or rehabilitation.
• Collaboration and Coordination – work closely with architects, geotechnical engineers, and construction teams to integrate designs; coordinate with government agencies, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Construction Oversight – monitor construction activities, address unforeseen issues.
• Documentation and Reporting – maintain detailed records, prepare comprehensive reports summarizing progress and outcomes.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in bridge design, analysis, and project management focused on transportation infrastructure.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, LARSA, MIDAS Civil for modeling and simulating bridge behavior.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles related to bridge design, load capacity, materials selection, environmental impact assessment.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Eurocodes, and local building codes.
• Experience conducting structural assessments and inspections of existing bridges.
• Competence in using project management tools for planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Good level of English (written and spoken).

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering General.
