Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Bid Manager who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks, from administrative functions to strategic responsibilities, and will manage bid processes across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead bid teams and collaborate with stakeholders across the business, working closely with the Sales Manager.
  • Support the bid qualification process for new opportunities.
  • Implement creative ideas and initiatives into bids.
  • Drive the commercial and technical preparation of bids, ensuring all services and deliverables are included in the final price to the customer.
  • Manage written proposals or supporting documents, focusing on content and presentation for internal or customer presentations.
  • Ensure adherence to quality processes for bid submission, guaranteeing that documents meet required standards and are signed off with appropriate internal authority.
  • Manage bid preparation through the approval process and ensure compliance with company governance processes.
  • Track and manage risk throughout the bid process.
  • Manage bid budgets for relevant bids.
  • Ensure timely delivery of technically, commercially and contractually compliant bids.
  • Ensure a smooth handover to the Project Management team when a bid has been secured.
Competencies
  • German is mandatory; fluent in Italian and English is recommended.
  • Proven record in delivering winning, multi‑million euro product or complex services opportunities.
  • Background in the rail industry and experience managing bid campaigns from opportunity identification through project delivery, providing valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions and solution design.
  • Sound commercial understanding, P&L and risk management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi‑workstream opportunities.
  • Solid understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures.
  • Ability to develop strong, constructive, focused relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite, excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills.
