Satispay is seeking a Backend Tech Lead to shape the future of welfare payments, overseeing multi-service architectures and secure backend delivery for employer benefits and employee spending.

You will mentor engineers, drive high-quality code, and own end-to-end features, from signup to payouts, in a fast-moving FinTech environment with hybrid in-office work three days a week.

Competenze

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with microservices and cloud environments.
• Deep Java experience with strong cloud platform knowledge (AWS a plus).
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and drive cross-team collaboration.
• Clear, structured communication and reliable technical documentation.
• Fluent in English; FinTech or startup experience is a plus.

What you’ll be doing

As our Backend Tech Lead, you’ll be the person who plays a critical role in shaping the future of digital welfare payments—handling everything from employer benefits to complex products. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:

• Drive multi-service solutions : Conduct technical analysis for medium-to-large projects, designing highly-available, scalable, and secure solutions for products that define the welfare core.
• Ensure technical quality : Implement robust testing strategies and oversee gradual rollouts to ensure welfare distributions are precise and reliable.
• Resolve and anticipate blockers : Proactively address technical blockers, drive knowledge sharing, and tackle unique B2B registration and high-volume benefit allocation challenges.
• Execution and ownership : Take full ownership of your work, delivering features that provide a seamless back-end integration from employer signup to employee spending.
• Mentor peers : Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, ensuring high-quality engineering practices across the team.
• System maintenance and stability : Simplify payments and improve accessibility by maintaining efficient systems that handle complex welfare regulations with ease.
• User-first engineering : Build products where technical excellence translates into a frictionless journey for both employers and employees.

Who we’re looking for

We need a problem-solver who loves teamwork and gets things done. If you’re curious and ready for real ownership, you’ll fit in! Does this sound like you?

• Extensive experience : You have at least 5 years of related experience in back-end software engineering, with a proven track record in microservices and cloud environments.
• Programming expertise : You possess deep experience with Java and a strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS is a plus).
• Technical leadership : You have a proven ability to conduct technical analysis for large-scope projects affecting multiple systems and drive knowledge sharing.
• Structured communication : You communicate in a professional and structured manner, building trust with stakeholders and maintaining reliable technical documentation.
• Language proficiency : You are passionate about FinTech or startup environments and fluent in English.

Salary

€51,000 - €66,500 gross per annum
This range is set using objective, gender-neutral criteria for the role’s core requirements. However, we do not believe in putting a ceiling on talent. The final compensation package is tailored according to your unique experience and expertise.
