Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Oligonucleotide chemist with experience in the design, synthesis and optimization of oligonucleotide based therapeutics. You will work within the Discovery Chemistry Department on projects involving antisense, siRNA and other synthetic oligonucleotide therapeutics and collaborate with project teams and clients across the nucleotides and peptides platform.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scientific and synthesis strategies for antisense, siRNA and other synthetic oligonucleotide therapeutics.
  • Act as chemistry lead or scientific consultant providing key technical knowledge to project teams.
  • Plan and run solid‑phase oligonucleotide synthesis campaigns with internal chemists and collaborate with other departments and sites.
  • Identify, develop, validate and implement current and next‑generation technologies to enable proprietary ASO and siRNA therapeutic development, including hardware and software installation.
  • Produce novel conjugates of oligonucleotides with targeting ligands (small molecules, peptides, proteins) and direct conjugation chemistry.
  • Maintain deep understanding of nucleoside, nucleotide and oligonucleotide chemistry, purification and screening strategies.
  • Characterize oligonucleotides and conjugates using LC‑UV‑HRMS, SEC/SAX/IPRP, gel‑based methods, fluorophore labeling and other analytical techniques.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Oligonucleotide Chemistry (or equivalent) and 3+ years of relevant experience in drug discovery.
  • Proven track record of scientific contributions in oligonucleotide and conjugate research evidenced by publications, presentations, patent applications and identification of preclinical development candidates.
  • Strong practical knowledge of design, synthesis, purification and scale‑up synthesis of synthetic oligonucleotides.
  • Excellent project, time management and problem‑solving skills; proven leadership and interpersonal skills across functional lines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex scientific information to program teams.
