Remuneration: Associate Professor Level D from $185,917 + 17% super and leave loading

Location: UNSW Canberra – ADFA and Canberra City Precinct

Why Your Role Matters

UNSW Canberra is expanding its academic footprint through strategic initiatives at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) and the Canberra City Precinct. As part of this growth, the UNSW Nuclear Innovation Centre, in partnership with the School of Science, is seeking an Associate Professor (Level D) to lead and advance nuclear science education and research in the national capital.

This role will contribute to UNSW’s national leadership in nuclear workforce development, public policy, and interdisciplinary collaboration. You will report to Associate Professor Edward Obbard, Director of the UNSW Nuclear Innovation Centre, and work closely with Professor John-David Dewsbury, School of Science.

Who You Are

You are a nationally recognised academic with a PhD in nuclear science, physics, nuclear engineering, or a related discipline. You bring:

  • A strong record of research leadership and high-impact publications.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching practices.
  • A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • Proven success in securing research funding and building industry partnerships.
  • A collaborative approach to interdisciplinary research and education.
Skills And Experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning design across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Experience with educational technologies and online delivery.
  • Leadership in curriculum innovation and academic quality assurance.
  • Track record of mentoring HDR students and postdoctoral researchers.
  • Engagement with industry and professional organisations.
  • Ability to contribute to UNSW’s lifelong learning initiatives and national dialogues in nuclear science and policy.
