Nature Communications is the leading multidisciplinary Open Access journal, publishing high-quality scientific research. We are seeking a researcher with a background in photovoltaic technologies, who has a critical eye, deep understanding of their subject, and interests beyond their specialty.
About The Role
The Associate/Senior Editor handles manuscripts in device physics, chemistry, and materials science, with a particular interest in photovoltaic technologies and related photophysics. The role is in our Berlin, Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Milan and Madrid offices on a hybrid working model and is full-time permanent.
Responsibilities
- Handle original research papers.
- Work closely with other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review.
- Make well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in light of expert advice.
- Determine the representation of their subject in the journal.
- Liaise extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature family and with experts in the international scientific community.
- Attend conferences and visit research institutions.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- A PhD (or equivalent) in physics/materials science, including organic solar cells, perovskite solar cells, perovskite optoelectronics, and tandem solar cells.
- Experience with applied computational methods and machine learning is preferred but not essential.
- Postdoctoral research experience is preferred but not essential; a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of the subject is essential.
- A passion for science and engineering and a thirst to learn more; breadth of interest in scientific research across electrical and electronic engineering and energy infrastructure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Eagerness to travel and meet scientists worldwide.
- Editorial experience is not required, although applicants with significant editorial experience are encouraged to apply.
