Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a talented cloud services/IT lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in selling to commercial and public sector customers throughout the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, with a primary focus on supporting AWS sales in Italy. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services, such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more to private and public sector customers.

Key Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and advising on strategic technology service agreements with enterprise customers, public sector customers, and partners, as well as providing legal support for local and regional services and initiatives. The role will also involve ongoing legal counsel and regulatory interpretation and guidance for senior executives and other business and legal team members on a variety of product development, operational, security, compliance, data protection and public policy matters. The role includes participating in other legal team projects, including managing legal issues that arise in existing relationships and handling customer and business partner inquiries.

The successful candidate will be proactive, entrepreneurial, enjoy being challenged, have strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrate sound, pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations.

This position is based in Rome, Italy. Some regional and international travel will be required.

Basic Qualifications
  • Qualified to practice law in Italy.
  • Post-qualification legal experience (minimum of 2+ years post bar admission).
  • Previous work experience in a law firm, government, or in-house at a technology company.
  • Transactional experience, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and experience supporting Italian government/public sector procurement.
  • Professional fluency in English and Italian, written and spoken.
  • Excellent communication, drafting and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, IT infrastructure and telecommunications policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience with IT transactions, including services agreements.
  • Experience engaging with policy makers, regulators, government contracting officials, system integrators, prime contractors, subcontractors, and resellers.
  • Knowledge of EU government/public sector procurement processes and contracting laws, rules, and regulations, and experience supporting EU government/public sector procurement.
