About the Role

We are seeking an Aircraft General Systems Manager to lead the design, integration, and lifecycle support of core onboard systems across both civil and military aircraft programs. This role is based on-site in Northern Italy, working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.

You will oversee a broad scope of aircraft general systems, including:

  • Powerplant systems
  • Hydraulic systems (landing gear, brakes, steering)
  • Flight control systems (mechanical & electro-hydraulic actuation)
  • Environmental control & pressurization
  • Anti-ice / de-icing
  • Cabin & interior systems

This is a key technical leadership position responsible for architecture, system-level requirements, supplier management, test & verification, certification support, and in-service performance.

The role is open to either:

  • A Lead/Principal level engineer ready to step into broader system responsibility, or
  • A more experienced Group/Chief Systems profile who can shape process, governance, and long-term systems strategy.

There is clear scope for career development, including progression toward Chief Engineer responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead system architecture, integration, and design activities across major aircraft systems.
  • Define system-level requirements, interfaces, and performance criteria.
  • Oversee component and subsystem supplier relationships, from evaluation to qualification.
  • Ensure compliance with EASA/FAA and/or military certification standards.
  • Support system modelling, rig testing, flight test integration, and verification/validation.
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues across prototype and in-service platforms.
  • Provide technical reporting and risk management to senior leadership.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers as the team grows.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience with the following core aircraft systems:
  • Powerplant, Hydraulic Systems (landing gear, brakes, steering), Flight Controls, Environmental/Pressurization, Anti-Ice / De-Ice.
  • Background in aircraft systems integration, ideally across both development and in-service environments.
  • Experience in either civil or military aerospace programs.
  • Strong understanding of relevant certification frameworks (EASA, FAA, or military).
  • Comfortable leading technical direction, supplier oversight, and cross-team coordination.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence within a multi-disciplinary environment.
Ideals (Not Essential)
  • Experience taking systems through flight test → certification → entry to service.
  • Familiarity with MBSE, system modelling, or DOORS-like requirements environments.
  • Exposure to next-gen aerospace (eVTOL, hybrid-electric, UAV, HALE platforms).
Offer
  • Salary depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full-time, on-site role
  • Opportunity to contribute at a high-impact stage on major aircraft programs.
  • Career growth into Chief Engineer / Head of Systems pathway.
