CMCC Foundation is seeking an Early career postgraduate researcher – Climate Risk Assessment Analyst to support data collection, processing and analysis of hazard, exposure and vulnerability data for risk modelling. The role is based in Venice and involves multidisciplinary collaboration within RAAS research.

The contract runs for 1 year starting October 2026, with a gross annual salary of €20,000–€23,000 and a welfare package of €2,000 per year for eligible contracts.

Competenze

  • Master degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Ecosystem Sciences or Environmental Sciences.
  • Experience in GIS analysis, Network Analysis and coding.
  • Experience in analysis of climate change impacts, vulnerabilities and risk.
  • Proficiency with programming languages (R, Python, or C++).
  • Knowledge of geostatistics and geospatial data processing software and tools.
  • Very good knowledge of English.
  • Accuracy and strong analytical skills.

We are looking for 1 Early career postgraduate researcher – Climate Risk Assessment Analysts, capable of effectively managing complex and heterogeneous datasets (including Earth Observation and climate impact data, observations from environmental monitoring, exposure and vulnerability data) leveraging on Machine Learning and Network Analysis techniques, with the ability to prioritize tasks and solve problems efficiently.

The successful candidates will work in a multidisciplinary and dynamic team and will support research and applied projects focused on assessing climate-related risks and building resilience to high impact and low probability events (HILPs).

ROLE

The Early career postgraduate researcher – Climate Risk Assessment Analyst will support the RAAS research team with the collection, examination, processing and analysis of hazard, exposure and vulnerability data needed to inform risk modelling and assessment.

Responsibilities
  • Data acquisition and processing from multiple sources
  • Hazard, exposure and vulnerability indices calculation
  • Handling of complex geospatial data and their processing
  • Support to data preparation and harmonization for machine learning applications
  • Contribution to perform quantitative (climate) risk and resilience assessments
  • Contribution to develop climate risk and adaptation services
Requirements
  • Master Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Ecosystem Sciences or Environmental Sciences
  • Work experience in GIS analysis, Network Analysis and coding;
  • Previous experience in analysis of climate change impacts, vulnerabilities and risk;
  • Proficiency with common programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C++);
  • Knowledge of (geo)statistics and of geospatial data processing software and tools;
  • Very good knowledge of the English language;
  • Accuracy and good analytical skills
Duration, Compensation & Benefits
  • Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
  • The Early career postgraduate researcher – Climate Risk Assessment Analyst will be based in Venice CMCC office
  • The contract offered for this position will be a Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration, starting from October 2026 and lasting for 1 year
  • The gross annual salary range for this position is 20,000-23,000 Euros. The salary offered within the range will be determined based on years of relevant experience, level of seniority, specific technical skills, applying objective and gender‑neutral criteria
  • Welfare package of 2,000 Euro per year (only for contracts lasting at least 12 months with a gross annual salary exceeding €14,999.99)
  • Flexible working time as per internal policies
  • Support during the immigration process, if needed

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
