Summary
This position is located at NAS Sigonella, Midtown 2 Movie Theater, Business Activities Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department. This position provides oversight and control of the theaters.
Duties
- Responsible for the operation of the theater from one hour before movie time until the theater is secured after the last showing.
- Opens and secures the theater facility and the Midtown building on nights when the theater closes last.
- Ensures the theater is set up to receive patrons, including ticket counter, concession stand, and projection booth.
- Prepares the evening movies for showing.
- Checks that the projector and sound system are in good working order prior to each showing. Sets up, operates, and maintains equipment such as motion picture projectors, sound systems (speakers, microphones, amps), and audio-visual equipment (laptops, portable projectors).
- Performs regular checks inside the auditorium to ensure sound and picture quality.
- Enforces policies such as no glass or strollers in the theater.
- Conducts security checks of oversized bags and backpacks.
- Reports problems or incidents to the Theater Manager.
- Oversees evacuation procedures in case of emergencies.
- Posts movie schedules and posters promptly.
- Manages change funds and verifies sales at the end of each shift.
- Follows NASSIG instructions regarding movies.
- Handles unruly patrons and contacts security if disturbances continue.
- Performs cashier duties, including handling sales and cash.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment:
- Must pass a background check.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical exam.
- Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
- Minimum age is 18 and out of high school.
- Must obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR/First Aid/AED certification, Customer Service Training, and MWR Food and Beverage Alcohol Safety Certification within 90 days.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, must certify registration with the Selective Service System.
- Civilian candidates need a No-Fee Passport, PCS Orders, or Command-Sponsorship authorization.
- Active duty candidates need Military Orders and Command authorization.
Qualifications
Recreation Aid, NF-0189-01 (Entry level): Three months of experience or a high school diploma.
Recreation Assistant, NF-0189-02 (Target level): Six months of general experience and six months of specialized experience at NF-01 level, or two years of college coursework related to recreation.
Qualified candidates will be evaluated on knowledge, skills, and abilities such as computer skills, equipment setup and operation, customer service, leadership, and cash handling.
