Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  1. Weather Forecasting & Analysis
  2. Generate accurate short-term, medium-term, and seasonal weather predictions using existing numerical models and tools.
  3. Analyze synoptic and mesoscale weather patterns and teleconnections to provide operational insights.
  4. Prepare daily and weekly weather reports, summarizing key trends and risks.

Data Processing & Analysis

  1. Perform basic Python-based analysis to interpret weather data and extract actionable insights.
  2. Support the development and enhancement of internal forecasting and verification tools and contribute to data pipeline maintenance.
  3. Collect and process meteorological datasets from diverse sources (e.g., satellite data, weather stations, reanalysis datasets). Automate data collection and preprocessing tasks using Python.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Experience

2-4 years of experience in operational weather forecasting or applied meteorology.

Familiarity with numerical weather prediction models (e.g., GFS, ECMWF, CFS) and large-scale meteorological datasets (e.g., ERA5, CMIP).

Technical Skills

Knowledge of climate teleconnections (e.g., ENSO, MJO, SAM, NAO) and their impacts is highly desirable.

Foundational Python programming skills for data manipulation (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) and visualization (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn).

Familiarity and experience with Machine Learning methods is an advantage.

Other Skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Strong communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings.
