RINA is currently recruiting for a Major Accident Hazards & Fire Prevention Engineer to join its office in Livorno, Genoa or Rozzano (Italy) within the Plant Engineering Division.
Mission
This role of Major Accident Hazards & Fire Prevention Engineer plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Major Risks plants, ultimately contributing to the protection of personnel, the environment, and assets.
Key Accountabilities
Assessing Major Risk Activities
- Conducting comprehensive risk assessments for new plants or plant renewals in accordance with Seveso law regulations.
- Identifying potential major hazards and assessing their impact on plant operations and surrounding environment.
- Providing consultancy on preventive or mitigation actions to reduce identified risks.
- Compiling safety reports and ensuring adherence to Seveso law requirements.
- Chair and manage HAZOP and SIL assessment workshops.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Engineering General
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in risk assessment, fire prevention, and safety management
- Professional certification or equivalent experience in the field (e.g., CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention, NEBOSH Certificate)
- Solid knowledge of Seveso regulations and experience with major hazard installations
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and define effective mitigation strategies
- Experience in fire-fighting system design and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards
- Understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and related procedures
- Fluency in Italian and a good command of English (both spoken and written)
