Post-Doc Researcher for the evaluation of external influences on blood proteomics and metabolomics data

Bozen/Bolzano

Institute for Biomedicine

Short Description Of The Position

The Institute for Biomedicine at Eurac Research is seeking a highly motivated researcher to join the Biomedical Informatics Group.

The Institute for Biomedicine is home to an international and interdisciplinary team of scientists, students and support staff, integrated in an excellent network of international and national partners. Living and working in Bozen/Bolzano allows you to experience a unique combination of alpine and Mediterranean culture right at the heart of one of the most exciting mountain regions in Europe. Utilizing a decade-long population study, the CHRIS study, in collaboration with the South Tyrolean Healthcare Service, the institute offers access to extensive data and biological materials suitable for health-related research [1]. With a focus on neurological, cardiovascular, and metabolic health, the team employs state-of-the-art labs and innovative data science to span the full translational research cycle, from data generation to potential clinical application.

The successful candidate will analyze large in-house proteomics datasets, both mass spectrometry [2,3] and affinity based [4] as well as metabolomics data sets [5] to assess the influence of external factors, such as medication or season, on circulating protein and metabolite concentrations. The candidate will work in close collaboration with other senior researchers on this multi-omics data analysis.

  • Determine the largest external influence factors on circulating protein concentrations.
  • Dissemination of scientific results through conference contributions and scientific publications.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field of research (Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or Computational Biology).
  • Experience in the analysis of quantitative omics data, preferentially proteomics or metabolomics.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis with R and/or Python.
  • Experience in reproducible research.
  • Knowledge in statistical data modeling and multiple regression analysis.
  • Proactivity and the ability to solve problems independently.
  • Ability to work in a distributed, multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

We Offer

  • Access to unique health and omics data from the CHRIS population study.
