We are currently seeking talented individuals to join our Long Products Technology Team.

Job Title: Software Developer for process design and control applications

Location: Buttrio (Udine - Italy)

Responsibilities

Develop software for plant process design, involving one or more of the following sectors:

• Process modeling and optimization
• Development of visual applications, including web applications
• Data analysis and management in databases

These tasks are subject to continuous improvement. The candidate may also collaborate on innovation projects, which may require reading scientific literature and working with universities.

Technical Requirements

Education:

• Preferably a Degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science Engineering
• A Degree in Mechanical or Material Engineering with a strong aptitude for software programming is also desirable

• A PhD in control systems technology is a plus

Language Skills:

Required: English (minimum level B2)

Desired: Italian

Technical Skills:

• Familiarity with software engineering principles, UML diagrams, modeling, and design tools
• At least 2 years of experience as a software developer with good knowledge of Object-Oriented principles
• Experience with source version control systems, preferably GIT

Experience in one or more of the following programming fields is appreciated:

• Visual applications development: Microsoft Visual Studio C#/C++, Windows Presentation Foundation, Angular/TypeScript/ASP.NET, HTML5/JavaScript/CSS
• Process modeling and control: Microsoft Visual Studio C++, Python, MATLAB
• Project management systems like Microsoft DevOps
• Database design and maintenance: relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server), NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, MongoDB)

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and the metal industry is a plus.

Additional advantages include experience in designing and implementing software solutions for process industries, especially metals, and experience in process control and optimization models.
