R&D Senior Mechanical Engineer

In this role, you will primarily contribute to the design of new electrical power chargers and product development. The role also includes tasks related to the continuous technical improvement of existing products, focusing on material cost reduction, design for manufacturing, and standardization. As a Senior Professional, you will operate with some autonomy but will also be guided by your supervisors and in line with established ABB E-mobility policies. Your responsibilities

• Mechanical design execution of electrical charging stations, including 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
• Manage and catalog product data documentation, including specifications, features, materials, dimensions, and images in a PDL system.
• Perform and plan tests and mechanical analysis in collaboration with our reliability team.
• Contribute to the development of internal technical standards for engineering and manufacturing procedures.
• Support and collaborate with internal and external teams to reach common goals, drive innovation, and achieve success.

Your background

• You have a technical background such as a Technical High School diploma; a Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferred.
• You have at least 3+ years of experience in a similar industry sector with specific knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, treatment, metalworking).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D software is required. Experience with Ansys and Python is a plus.
• Knowledge of DFM, DFMEA, and risk analysis approaches.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills. Knowledge of Italian is mandatory due to daily interaction with Italian stakeholders.
