System Engineer

This position is based in Torino and is ideal for candidates with a background in Ingegneria Elettronica or Avionica.

The role involves defining and designing systems, with key activities including:

• Capturing and verifying customer requirements;
• Defining and managing avionics system specifications using tools like DOORS (IBM);
• Developing models and algorithms for performance evaluation and system sizing using Model Based Tools (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, Cameo);
• Defining system architecture;
• Writing and managing system requirements and test procedures;
• Validating requirements and test procedures;
• Supporting detailed development activities;
• Conducting Safety, Reliability, FMEA/FMECA analyses;
• Integrating avionics equipment into the final system/subsystem;
• Applying safety-critical principles and redundancy to meet safety standards like SAE ARP 4754A and SAE ARP 4761 for catastrophic hazards;
• Participating in product reviews;
• Managing suppliers;
• Handling problem reports related to assigned tasks.

Required skills include:

• Proficiency with IBM-Rational Doors and/or Mathworks Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow;
• Basic knowledge of Digital and Analog Electronics;
• Familiarity with serial buses such as RS232, RS485, RS422, ETHERNET, MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 429, CAN, FireWire 1394;
• Experience with standard laboratory instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscope);
• Basic understanding of safety-critical systems in avionics;
• Preferred knowledge of automatic control and digital filters;
• Preferred knowledge of signal processing;
• Basic knowledge of standards like ARP4761, ARP4754A, DO254, DO178, DO160, MIL-STD-1760, and others;
• Optional but advantageous knowledge of RF concepts.

Additional requirements:

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or Avionics;
• Good command of English.

The position is entry level, full-time, within the Information Technology function.
