About this opportunity

The EHS Manager reports to the Plant Manager and functionally to the Quality EHS and World-Class Performance Director. This role involves managing the Environment, Health & Safety responsibilities for the plant, ensuring compliance with best practices and statutory obligations, and fostering a safety culture.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  1. Provide expert advice to Line Managers.
  2. Manage and develop the OHSAS 18001 system.
  3. Ensure compliance with site safety policies.
  4. Train all employees on EHS matters, emphasizing behavioral safety.
  5. Monitor legislative changes and ensure legal compliance.
  6. Manage and develop the ISO 14001 environmental management system.
  7. Ensure proper disposal of waste streams in normal and abnormal situations.
  8. Collect environmental performance data and report to relevant personnel and authorities.
  9. Support environmental projects to reduce waste, solvents, air emissions, and costs.
  10. Investigate incidents, near-misses, and complaints related to environmental impacts and take corrective actions.
  11. Promote accident prevention and safety awareness activities, including safety campaigns and initiatives.

Communications

  1. Develop and implement the plant's annual EHS management program, including projects and budget management.
  2. Collect and analyze monthly EHS data, statistics, and KPIs for presentation to the Executive Team.
  3. Report on management system performance and continuous improvement goals.
  4. Raise awareness of environmental, food hygiene, and health and safety issues within the plant.

Profile

  • Diploma in Health & Safety or equivalent, with relevant environmental qualifications and experience with OSHAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 systems.
  • Recognized qualification in Risk Prevention.
  • Knowledge of EHS legislation.
  • Strong understanding of standards development and maintenance (OSHAS 18001, ISO 14001).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience at a plant level or similar role in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred).
