Job Description:

Basic Function

This position is responsible for supporting and improving Basic Regulatory Control, identifying and implementing advanced control applications to enhance plant throughput, profitability, stability, reliability, and safety. The role involves creating, monitoring, and ensuring the proper functioning of Advanced Process Control (APC) applications. Additionally, the position leads Alarm Management (AM) activities in accordance with LYB corporate standards, aiming to increase the plant staff's promptness in reacting to potential safety deviations detected by instruments. Core activities include rationalizing and prioritizing DCS alarms and monitoring their trends over time.

This role requires routine interaction with various work groups to maximize value and safety improvements from control systems and alarm management.

  • Oversees APC and AM implementations, providing maintenance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and process departments.
  • Designs, justifies, and commissions new APC & optimization applications and inferential models.
  • Defines and supports DCS regulatory control strategies and improvements.
  • Provides technical consultation, training, and develops documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Develops APC opportunities and assesses their benefits for long-term planning.
  • Performs audits of controller benefits.
  • Develops, optimizes, and maintains alarms databases and trend analyses according to corporate standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • University Degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Electronic Engineering
  • 0-4 years experience in industrial process control systems optimization and/or design

Languages:

  • Good English knowledge; Italian as mother tongue preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Statistics and probability
  • Engineering knowledge of instruments and their installation in a chemical environment, Atex classified
  • Engineering knowledge of Digital Control Systems (DCS)
  • Familiarity with plant documentation (. PFD, P&ID)
