The Candidate

You are passionate about climate change and how to tackle this global issue one trade at a time. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed team player who fosters superior performance by utilizing their competencies in deal making. You have an affinity with commodities and finance, are self-motivated, and eager to develop your commercial skills while working in a close-knit team. The ideal candidate should be confident, open to direct feedback, and preferably have a comprehensive understanding of Environmental Commodities (carbon, (bio)fuels, (renewable) power, or gas markets). You excel at understanding your clients’ needs and transforming these into actionable solutions. We are looking for someone eager to develop themselves and grow with the company to become a key team player.

The Role

The sales trader will develop mid and senior-level relationships with top-tier companies (utilities, project developers, corporates, generators, and industrials) and actively close transactions that meet both client and company demands. Your performance will be measured against an ambitious annual sales plan. The goal is to grow both personally and as a company in this exciting and rapidly expanding market. You will be responsible for trading products such as carbon offsets (voluntary and obligatory), renewable power and gas certificates, energy efficiency certificates, transport quotas, among others. We help our clients reduce their environmental risks, maximize output, and build our network. You will receive full support from the management team and your future colleagues.
Your daily activities will include:
  • Communicating daily with customers and understanding their needs
  • Proactively approaching new clients to expand the customer database
  • Conducting local market research on environmental commodities and contributing to company growth
  • Creating new commodity deal structures that meet client and company needs
  • Collaborating with the team to structure deals beneficial to both clients and the company

The Requirements

To be considered, you should meet the following criteria:
  • Native Italian speaker and fluent in English
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, finance, economics, or equivalent
  • 1-4 years of experience in commodities trading, brokering, or business development
  • Self-motivated, eager to develop skills, and become a leader in the environmental commodity industry
  • Excellent communication skills, both articulate and precise, with the ability to give and receive feedback
  • A climate advocate with a drive to make a positive impact
  • Experience in lead development through business development, cold calling, networking, and IT/Data applications
  • Advanced Excel skills are a plus
  • Willing to relocate to Genoa, Italy, or currently residing there
