Description

This role can be performed in the following locations in Italy: Rome, Pescara, or Ancona.

The position reports to the Under the Roof Sr Employee Relations Manager, within the EU Employee Experience and Relations Team (EXR) at Amazon, working across multiple business lines including First Mile, Middle Mile, Last Mile, Amazon Fresh, and XL supply chain in a specific geographic region.

This is a full-time position that will require up to 50% of travel throughout Italy and beyond on occasion, sometimes with little notice.

The ER Manager drives Labour and Employee Relations operational excellence while serving as the primary escalation point for Operations, HR, and key stakeholders. The position demands expertise in supporting labour relations needs and implementing country-specific Labour and Employee Relations strategies. A significant aspect involves cultivating and maintaining relationships with employee representatives, trade unions, and external stakeholders, often representing the company in crucial industrial relations processes.

The ER Manager ensures strict compliance with local labour laws and company policies while skilfully managing complex labour issues and crisis situations. Their success relies on close collaboration with operations leadership, HR, PR, Public Policy, communications, and legal teams. Working alongside EXR Business Line Partners and country-based operations teams, they maintain effective two-way communication channels. Through the implementation of standard work and data analysis, they maintain oversight of their ER environment, consistently driving towards operational excellence and positive employee relations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and embody the EXR philosophy to build positive, long-term relationships with constructive employee representatives in-country, while ensuring compliance with country regulations. Implement the strategy and the agenda of industrial relations, attending information and consultation meetings and managing the relations with employees' representation and ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Drive project management excellence through innovative, scalable solutions and standardized processes, implementing efficient tools and best practices to achieve business objectives while optimizing resource utilization across all business lines and protecting positive employee experience.
  • Lead data-driven decision-making through analytical insights and compliance oversight, developing persuasive narratives and ensuring Labor and Employee Relations activities align with regulations.
  • Perform regular site visits to maintain positive workplace through engagement mechanisms, while translating business needs into actionable plans and managing daily operations.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Ops, HR, Legal, Finance, PR, and Public Policy teams, delivering innovative EXR solutions and crisis management through effective communication and stakeholder engagement across all organizational levels.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in employee relations, labour relations, or labour/employment Italian law
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, Labour Relations or MBA.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Italian and English (CEFR, C2)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in distribution, logistics and/or transportation industries
  • Analytical, flexibility and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in Project Management
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate complex, international organizational structures.
  • Interpersonal and persuasion skills
  • Ability to comprehend complex information and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
