Job Description:

The End-to-End Navigation System department of Thales Alenia Space in Italy seeks a Navigation System Engineer who will report directly to the Head of Department. The responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting the execution of programs like GALILEO, Moonlight, LEO PNTIod.
  2. Contributing to new business opportunities.
  3. Fostering R&D activities in satellite navigation.

Location: Rome.

Role as a Thales System Engineer:

As a System Engineer at Thales, you will:

  1. Analyze customer needs through advanced studies, simulations, mock-ups, models, prototypes.
  2. Formalize specifications and architecture to propose optimal solutions.
  3. Prepare and execute integration, verification, and validation tests.
  4. Define test plans and procedures for system-level testing.
  5. Ensure technical coherence of system design, interfaces, and performance.
  6. Design the architecture of command and control systems.
  7. Demonstrate solutions to clients.

Additionally, you will:

  1. Support growth initiatives within the engineering department.
  2. Contribute to R&D through new studies.
  3. Coordinate with universities for thesis, internships, etc.
  4. Participate in international meetings and conferences worldwide.

Language requirement: Fluent English, spoken and written.

Competencies:

  • A master’s degree in electronics, telecommunications, computer science, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic telecommunication principles.
  • Familiarity with System Engineering Tools (e.g., MBSE, Requirement Management, Simulation Tools, Matlab).
  • At least 5 years of experience in Satellite Navigation and/or Communication Systems.
  • Experience leading engineering projects or activities.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, proactivity, and innovative mindset.
